Heading north through France, collecting more passengers as we go

Gorgeous Husky duo Niebla and Trueno are travelling with Animalcouriers all the way to Aberdeen in Scotland. Hailing from Madrid in Spain, they are an incredibly friendly pair with calm, gentle characters who love human attention. Their coats are thick and soft to the touch, and they’ll doubtless be glad of them in the colder Scottish weather. Niebla is Spanish for ‘fog’ and Trueno means ‘thunder’ — we experienced both of those weather conditions this morning!

Cats Humbug, Merlin and Whisky have also joined our trip. They seem to prefer spending their time in a heap — that’s how they’re travelling and it’s also how we found them (under the duvet!) when we went to collect them. It was quite a scene, couriers and cats scampering around as we tried to persuade them they were going on a great adventure! All three are rescue cats, who’re moving with their very loving owner to the UK from south-west France.

Our Spanish and southern French passengers are safely on board

Animalcouriers collected cats Django and Gola who’re swapping Barcelona for London. They’re snuggled up inside their beds but pop out for strokes at every opportunity, purring away.

Also from Barcelona are Golden Retriever cross Jasper and his Andalusian Podenco friend Lyssa, whose UK destination is a bit further away — the Scottish Highlands. These sweet dogs are being greatly missed by their loving owner.

Kira is also from Spain, and is on her way to live in Sussex. Quite the comedian, this pretty dog demands attention every time we stop!

In the south of France we collected handsome ginger boy Kikouyou. Originally from China, he’s now off to live in Cambridge, so we’ve been trying to teach him a few words of English. Kikouyou is travelling with his three favourite toys that feature feathers, bells and squeaks, so it’s a very musical trip!

Also from southern France comes energetic Minou, who loves to roll around in bed and have it remade on demand! Minou is moving to a new seaside home in Eastbourne.

Frida is outnumbered by cats on our trip to Spain

Sleek black cat Moka is travelling with Animalcouriers to Spain, in the company of her canine companion Frida. They’re heading for the Madrid area and both have relaxed completely into their journey.

Also on our passenger list are feline trio Berkeley, Tiffany and Boots, who’re off to the sunny Spanish resort of Sitges.

And we’re delighted to welcome back frequent flyers Jules and Jim. These two black-and-white brothers are off to spend the summer at their holiday home near the French/Spanish border. They’ll stay a few nights with friends in Narbonne until their owner can join them. They’re so familiar with the route by now they could almost drive themselves!

Mia, Pluto, Moe and Arial joined our trip in Madrid

Animalcouriers reached Madrid yesterday where Mia the cat, Pluto the Basset Hound, Moe the British Bulldog and little Arial, were all waiting to join our trip to the UK.

Meanwhile, love bird Perry has proved herself to be an Eagles fan and has been practising duets with Courier I! The whole troupe, performing and otherwise, arrived in Bordeaux last night, and are on course to reach Calais this evening.

Moe is heading for East London, where his owners Jaime and Sofia are counting down the minutes until they're reunited

Four more dogs, another cat and a love bird have joined our trip from southern Europe

Animalcouriers’ trip north through Spain and towards the UK is fast filling up. Today courier I collected Perry the love bird in Fuengirola. Perry has been staying with courier A whose kids have really adored having her in the house.

From there it was a short drive east along the coast road to Sotogrande (where the Ryder Cup is held, as all you golf fans will know). Here, courier I collected little Havanese dogs Jasper and Charlie and their ‘surrogate mum’ Muppet, a miniature Border Collie.

His next stop was Calahonda for Marg the cat, who’s still keeping her head down while she gets used to travelling. Then it was off to Torre del Mar to pick up Lola.

Lola is a tiny Yorkie pup who was found abandoned in a car park that is — fortunately — close to a veterinary clinic. Lola was brought in just as Jacqui was in the clinic with a stray cat due to be neutered to help keep the local population down. Jacqui couldn’t resist Lola, who is now on her way to live with Jacqui’s mum in the UK!

Dario, Cattage and Rascal are heading north through Spain

While couriers J and M deal with the situation in Turkey, the UK-bound Animalcouriers trip from Portugal and Spain is underway.

An accident on the motorway in Portugal caused some initial delays, as courier I had to criss-cross through southern Portugal on minor roads to deliver Toffee and Fudge.

Once they were safely back with their owners, he started the UK-bound leg of his journey by collecting dynamic Dachshund Dario in Cadiz.

With Dario safely on board, courier I headed to San Roque near Gibralter to collect two cats, Cattage and Rascal, who quickly settled down in their travel compartments and are taking the journey in their stride.

A litter of pups for Angel, who travelled with us last year

Last year we transported beautiful Sheltie Angel from Reading to Spain. Now back in Hampshire, Angel has had a litter of adorable pups. Her owner Jo tells us:

“Angel’s puppies were born 3-5-2013 in Hampshire. She had 1 tri-colour female, 2 tri-colour males and 4 blue merle males. One was born half the size and weight of the others and is having to be hand reared but is now doing great. All the others are well and thriving, as is Angel after a short bout of mastitis!

I thought you might like to see photos of Angel, the stud and the puppies as you were all so good to her and the family when you cared for her!

We are settled back in Hampshire and will probably stay for the foreseable future and continue breeding Shelties, although, with family still in Spain, future visits/living are not ruled out and we will definitely use you again if we need to, and we always recommend you!”

Jimmy and Lupi are happy in their new homes

Cocker Spaniel Jimmy and young pup Lupi travelled from Barcelona to Calais, where they were met by their new owners who took them on the final leg of their journey to the Netherlands.

These two rescue dogs from Spain have been adopted by two sisters and their families. Olga, who adopted Jimmy, tells us:

“Jimmy and Lupi have arrived at their new homes! We are very very happy to have them with us, they deserve a home where they will be taken care of after so much suffering and being abandoned. I’d like to thank Animalcouriers and Traveldog for making this happen. My sis and I are very grateful. Please let me know if I could do something for you. I will definitely recommend Animalcouriers to anybody that needs to arrange travel for his/her pet, and I will keep you in mind for the future.”

Mimmi and her owner have swapped Spain for the UK

Mimmi travelled over to the UK from Spain about a month ago. Now the builders and decorators have finished her new home in Hertfordshire, and Animalcouriers drove her there yesterday.

Mimmi was originally a feral cat who used to eat the bread from the birdtable. Then her owner started meeting her with a saucer of milk at 6am, and finally she brought her kittens to the house to show them off.

Passengers from Spain heading to the UK and the Netherlands

Courier S met up with Traveldog this morning in Calais to take collection of dogs, cats and a ferret who’d travelled up from Spain. In return we entrusted English Bull Terrier Max to them for the journey south and a reunion in Spain with his owner.

It was an early morning reunion in Calais for Cocker Spaniel Jimmy and puppy pal Lupi, whose owners arrived to take them on to their new home in the Netherlands.
