To Australia with George and Charlie

Boxer George and King Charles Spaniel Charlie boarded their flight to Sydney last night at London Heathrow.

Animalcouriers collected them yesterday afternoon in the Birmingham area for their trip to the airport.

Both dogs were absolutely ready to pose for the camera at every opportunity!

An epic journey from New Zealand to Croatia

Cocker Spaniel Roko and Keeshond Lola, along with their four feline companions and a cockatoo called Pepe, recently completed an epic journey from Mission Bay in New Zealand to Baska Voda in Croatia. This was quite an undertaking, especially as Roko is 12 and two of the cats are 15 and 16 years old!

This intrepid band set off from Auckland on Monday morning New Zealand time, flying with Thai Air via Bangkok into London Heathrow, where they had a 24-hour stopover at the airport’s quarantine kennels.

Animalcouriers arranged their UK transit documents and their onward flight to Zagreb with Croation Airlines. By Thursday afternoon, they had reached Zagreb, ready to complete the final leg of their journey by road to the Adriatic coast.

Their owner, Valentine, and Shelley at Air Care Pets in Auckland had done a brilliant job getting all the paperwork in perfect order. There were extra complexities for Pepe, a Galah Cockatoo (Elophus Roseicapilla) as these birds are protected by CITES legislation on the international trade in endangered species. That meant CITES certificates from both New Zealand and Croatia had to be in place before Pepe could start his journey. When CITES birds travel as pets, they also have to be accompanied by their owner or their owner’s representative. So Valentina’s son was on all the same flights as Pepe and the rest of the crew.

Valentina tells us she was so excited about the arrival of her pets she didn’t sleep all night!

It’s a dog’s life!

Here’s an update on a family of three dogs who recently flew from Cardiff to Paphos in South Cyprus. Their owner Andrea tells us:

“The dogs have settled in well. They love swimming and, as you can see, have a very chilled time in between their hectic walks!”

A tiny Chihuahua pup moves to Kuwait

Little Josephine homeboarded with Animalcouriers while we prepared the paperwork for her move to Kuwait.

Dogs travelling to Kuwait must have their Defra export certificates checked by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and then legalised by the Kuwaiti Embassy.

Lyn, who looked after Josephine, had become so fond of her she had to come back twice to kiss her goodbye!

Maisie, Anak and Mr M are on their way to Bermuda

Pretty young dog Maisie and her feline companions Anak and Melchizedek (aka Mr M) set off for Bermuda today. Their owners went on ahead just after Easter to find the right house for this trio. This took a little longer than expected, but Maisie, Anak and Mr M are finally on their way.

Animalcouriers originally collected them from Edinburgh in March. Maisie has been staying with family members in Surrey, while Anak and Mr M have been boarding at Burntwood Cattery.

Earlier in the week Animalcouriers took all three pets to the vet to have their export certificates completed and the required parasite treatments done, before the Bermuda import permits could be issued.

Their owners are worried that Maisie won’t recognise them when she arrives in Bermuda, but we’re sure she will. She’s a very affectionate and laid-back young dog, who we feel will take everything in her stride.

Tombi, Bella and Bosco have moved to Dubai

This globetrotting trio recently swapped rural Kent for the bright lights of Dubai, on flights arranged by Animalcouriers.

The family had been in the UK for just a few months after moving from their South African home in Johannesburg.

Their owner Ingrid wrote to say:

“Can’t believe how cold it was in England, but do still miss it a lot. No beautiful woodlands to walk in, just sand and more sand. But the sun is shining and we can swim every day!”

Penny, Andy and Catie swap Wales for Cyprus

Penny and Andy are two very lively terriers who were due to fly last summer to join their family in Cyprus. Unfortunately, illness in the family delayed their departure. In the meantime, they’ve been joined by pretty Boxer Catie.

This canine trio finally jetted off with their owner Andrea from Cardiff to Paphos with Thomson.

Andrea reports: “They are being a little naughty but I’m sure they’ll settle down soon!”

Ermione’s big adventure

This little blue-cream Persion cat has had an awfully big adventure.

Ermione flew into Heathrow last night from Northern Cyprus. At the Heathrow Animal Reception Centre she had a lovely rest, and something to eat and drink — and then very early this morning Animalcouriers collected her for the last leg of her journey.

We drove her to Suffolk where her new home is in Ipswich. She’s already delighted to have the run of the house, but is having to get used to carpets — in Cyprus the floors were all marble!

A fox hound, a lurcher and four cheeky Chihuahuas

Animalcouriers had a busy day yesterday transporting a wonderful variety of dogs within the UK.

Stunning fox hound Rachel with her strawberry-coloured coat is on her way to the USA, where she’ll join her sister who’s already a top-class champion. Courier S collected Rachel in Worcester and drove her to Heathrow airport. She’ll be flying today once she’s had her veterinary check.

Rachel took to travel like a pro. We wish her a wonderful life in the USA.

Also collected in Worcester, this darling Lurcher. She’s now at a rescue centre in Hailsham, Susex, where she’s waiting to find her forever home.

We hope this gentle and loving girl finds a new home quickly.

We also transported four little Chihuahua girls from Leicestershire to North Yorkshire, where they’re starting a new life in a beautiful home in the middle of exquisite countryside.

Courier S reports that each youngster has her own unique, original character — a mixture of shyness, affection and boldness. They all travelled very well and arrived to find supper was ready and heat lamps were on over their cosy duvet beds. Quite a big day for these four little dogs!
