Mariella our Italian vet may think courier M is a wannabe vet, but we think he’s actually a botanist manqué!
Some fine examples of Igoumenitsa’s indigenous flora.
(And courier M’s starter for 10 – name those flowers! These are all the more impressive considering they’re taken with a Blackberry phone camera. Ed.)

Oooh, these are lovely! Thanks for posting them! ~ Lynda
A poppy, bluebells, a thistle of some sort…oh, I know what those white ones are but can’t remember! No idea on the rest
The white flowers – I think they are star flower? and the mauve ones (top right) Penstamon? the little mauve ones are stonecrop?
Loved every one, but my favorite was the fuschia colored prickly looking one. These are different enough from what I’ve seen here that I couldn’t name a single one.
It’s very possibly a wild Eryngium (Sea Holly) but they usually have a blue flower. Whatever it is, it’s lovely.
beautiful. great job courier M!
We love the flowers!
:)
We’re going to have to get courier M a book on the flowers of Greece
